About the Role
Catalina Gardens is a Minnesota based gardening company providing high quality garden maintenance and installation services throughout the Twin Cities. We operate seasonally from April through November, focusing on the peak growing season to keep our clients landscapes healthy, clean, and looking their best. We’re looking to add a Head Gardener / Team Lead to help oversee projects and lead our crews in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and manage garden maintenance and installation projects at residential properties
• Lead and direct gardening crew members daily
• Plan daily tasks, prioritize projects, and manage time efficiently
• Pick up inventory, materials, and products as needed and ensure all items are ready and on-site for the team before work begins
• Perform hands on gardening work including planting, pruning, mulch application, weed barrier installation, and rock application
• Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques and job expectations
• Ensure job sites are clean, safe, and completed to company standards
• Communicate with clients onsite regarding work performed and general garden conditions
• Monitor crew performance and communicate any issues to ownership
• Complete required paperwork, daily notes, and project tracking
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, report maintenance needs
• Assist other crews as needed and collaborate to meet company goals
Requirements
• 3+ years of professional gardening or landscaping experience
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of regional plants, common weeds, and general garden care
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions for 8–10 hour days
• Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Friendly, professional, and able to build rapport with clients and team members
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
• DOT health card required or ability to obtain
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
